HCBS is a government-funded program offered by the Office of Mental Health dedicated to ensuring that Medicaid beneficiaries receive high-quality, cost-effective, person-centered services in the setting of their choice.
The program aims to support children and youth as they work toward goals and achievements. To maximize results, services are provided where children/ youth and families are most comfortable — at home or in the community. It includes direct support for the children and their caregivers, who are essential in achieving the desired outcome.
HCBS is a flexible and versatile program that includes an array of personal, flexible services to meet the health, mental health, substance use treatment, and/or developmental needs of each child/youth. It also supports their caregivers with home modification and respite services so they can better support the children under their care.
Professionals dedicated to helping you find the right services for your child and their family/caregivers. Care Managers work with children/youth, their families, and service providers to ensure they receive the care and services they need.
Assists with learning social and daily living skills and health-related tasks. This includes peer-support professionals assigned to children and youth to support them in their development and in achieving their goals.
Providing relief for families/caregivers to ensure they have peace of mind and the right environment to care for their child. This includes long-term respite and crisis respite to maintain an environment conducive to optimal development.
Youth aged 14 and older can learn skills to prepare for paid or volunteer work that matches their interests. The program incentivizes employers and helps youth find their way into the job market and work toward self-sufficiency.
For Children and Youth with chronic conditions. Services include ongoing physical therapy, pain management, massage therapy, and various help methods to help them cope with their challenges.
Changes and modifications to the home and car to fit the child’s health needs. This includes technological aids and devices that support children/youth's health, welfare, and safety.
HSBC Children's waiver program is a government program dedicated to helping children in need of extra care: mentally, physically, or behaviorally. Through the program, families are offered high-quality, cost-effective, person-centered services in the comfort of their own homes and schools.
